That was the most fun part, being doused in color from every direction felt amazing and fun. We asked for a refund and were told by Mike at corporate that there were no refunds and that the event varies from location to location, and year to year, even though their prices dont. Once we crossed the finished line, we were greeted with water, snacks, juices, and packs of color. The only downside to the run was that there were a lot of people who were walking and strollers in your way while you were running. ![]() The run never got boring because your team would motivate you, volunteers would coat you in color, and there was always a color station to look forward to. Some took it a step further and put on tutus or crazy costumes.ĭuring the run, at each of the eight color stations, volunteers coated us with powder in colors of blue, pink, purple, green, yellow, red, and orange. ![]() Almost everyone there was wearing a white T-shirt, shorts or pants, knee-high white socks, colored glasses, and running shoes. Hundreds of people participated in the event by running or walking the 5k. However, we left the event covered in color and looking like a rainbow. We arrived at the event 10 minutes before our 9:15 wave all clean and bright in our white T-shirts. This past weekend, on Saturday, March 7, I participated in Color Me Rad with my family and friends. Each person receives a runner’s package, which includes a T-shirt, Color Me Rad socks, a RAD tattoo, a RAD sticker, and a number. People can sign up in a team or as an individual. The run starts at the low-cost of $25 dollars per person, 3 months before the event, and gradually increases to $55 as the months go by. Once you click on the location, you are redirected to Eventbrite where you will purchase your package. You click on locations to find Bakersfield, California. In order to sign up for the run, you visit Color Me Rad’s website. Or, as Color Me Rad’s website, says, “the end of lame runs and the beginning of fun runs.” The run is based on the Hindu festival of colors, known as Holi, which celebrates the end of winter and the arrival of spring with colors. How can you change your boring run into a fun one? By running the Color Me Rad 5k when it comes to Bakersfield.Ĭolor Me Rad is a 3.2-mile run that takes place at the Kern County Fairgrounds in Bakersfield. I don’t know about your will to live, but this race certainly looks like a lot of fun to me! In it runners are bombarded with a rainbow of colors (colored corn starch) at various color stations along the running route. I love running 5K races, but this one is a little different than your typical race. Things are going to get a lot more colorful in Raleigh this Fall and I’m not talking about the leaves on the trees changing color!
